Mercor is a leading AI data company building the layer between human expertise and frontier models. We are seeking a foundational hire for our new Data Platform team to own the infrastructure that every data-driven team at Mercor runs on, including Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, and Hex. This role is crucial in setting the standards for data organization, access control, cost management, and operational reliability. You will work alongside researchers, operators, and AI companies at the forefront of shaping AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Organize data in Snowflake across projects and teams with clear ownership.
- Design and implement role-based access controls, partnering with automation for access management.
- Extend row access policies and PII masking for sensitive datasets.
- Migrate data from various sources into governed data homes.
- Manage Fivetran connector health and cost.
- Ensure Airflow/Astronomer pipeline reliability and participate in on-call rotations.
- Oversee Hex governance for company-wide dashboards.
- Monitor and optimize Snowflake warehouse spend.
- Assist in building CDC/streaming ingestion and other internal data platform tooling.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake administration, including roles, grants, warehouses, and cost/performance tuning.
- Experience designing data access and governance models (RBAC, row-level security, PII) at scale.
- Comfort owning vendor tooling end-to-end (Fivetran, Airflow/Astronomer, or similar), including on-call responsibilities.
- Proven track record of migrating or re-architecting live production data systems without impacting dependent teams.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, with infrastructure fluency for informed judgment calls.
- Experience owning CDC/streaming pipelines in production (e.g., Debezium, Kafka, Snowpipe Streaming), including understanding delivery semantics, partitioning, and safe cutovers.
