Machinify is a leading healthcare intelligence company that uses an AI-powered platform and expertise to deliver value, transparency, and efficiency to health plan clients. Our machine learning models identify and prevent erroneous healthcare payments, resulting in significant cost savings for our customers. We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist | ML to join our "Pay" team, focusing on advancing our claims payment models and creating technical frameworks to enhance team scalability and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end data science work, from problem framing and data exploration to modeling, validation, and production impact.
- Drive complex initiatives like vendor leakage detection and prevention to achieve measurable revenue or cost improvements.
- Develop new metrics, models, or workflows when existing approaches are insufficient.
- Design, build, and support production ML or LLM-powered solutions in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Utilize SQL to explore large datasets, build data assets, and validate results.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to align on goals, tradeoffs, and execution plans.
- Set technical direction and raise the bar for data science quality, scalability, and impact through mentorship and technical leadership.
Requirements
- Proven track record of hands-on data science impact on real-world problems.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with complex, large-scale datasets.
- Experience building, shipping, or supporting production ML systems, with some exposure to LLM-based products or workflows.
- Ability to independently scope ambiguous problems, select appropriate data and methods, and drive work to completion.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex analyses and models to non-technical stakeholders.
