Lovable is seeking an exceptional Forward Deployed Engineering Lead to help build the future of AI-powered software creation. This role involves building and leading an outstanding Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, while collaborating with other FDE leaders to define the function's global operations. You will remain deeply hands-on, working directly with ambitious customers, writing production code, and contributing to projects alongside your team. Responsibilities
- Build and lead the FDE team in your location.
- Define how the FDE function operates and scales globally.
- Remain hands-on by building and shipping solutions alongside the team.
- Partner with customers to build novel AI systems.
- Set a high technical bar for architecture, engineering, and execution.
- Translate patterns from real-world deployments into core product and platform improvements.
- Influence product direction, technical roadmap, and FDE operations.
- Recruit, develop, and lead an exceptional team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
- Understand customer workflows, needs, and technical challenges.
- Design, prototype, and implement solutions with the team.
- Own and guide projects from conception through iteration.
- Set technical standards through architecture decisions, code reviews, and hands-on engineering.
- Translate customer insights into foundational platform improvements.
- Partner with other FDE leads to shape standards, playbooks, and scaling strategies.
- Contribute to core product strategy, technical decisions, and cultural foundations.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, technical architecture, and customer-facing engineering.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Proven track record of remaining hands-on while increasing leadership scope.
- Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals in modern frontend and backend development.
- Strong architectural thinking and familiarity with distributed systems.
- Experience owning complex technical engagements end-to-end.
- Exceptional product intuition and ability to work directly with users.
- Ability to transition between coding, architectural decisions, team leadership, and stakeholder management.
- High agency and comfort operating in ambiguous, high-velocity environments.
- Experience building a team or technical function from scratch (bonus).
- Experience working on agentic AI systems or deploying LLMs in production (bonus).
- Experience with zero-to-one product development (bonus).
- Experience in early-stage startups, high-growth startups, big tech, or consulting (bonus).
- Experience in enterprise AI (bonus).
