About the job
Lightmatter is seeking a Mixed-Signal Validation Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of groundbreaking AI data center infrastructure. This role involves validating the architecture of mixed-signal circuits that power a photonic-based communication fabric, bridging the gap between low-level AMS/photonic devices and firmware/software interfaces. The engineer will influence product definition, technological roadmaps, and design/verification methodologies, working closely with digital, analog, photonic, and software teams. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a tight-knit team that is building a new kind of data center and solving complex challenges in a technically diverse environment.
Responsibilities
- Own mixed-signal architecture validation for Lightmatter’s Passage product line, collaborating with architecture, chip design, and software teams.
- Influence the mixed-signal architecture from concept to high-volume production.
- Validate and specify system-level mixed-signal designs, integrating complex AMS and photonic circuits like high-speed drivers/receivers, SerDes, ADCs/DACs, digital controllers, and photonic modulators/detectors.
- Work with test and validation engineers to validate hardware against simulation predictions.
- Collaborate with the DV team to translate pre-silicon verification into post-silicon validation.
- Support architectural-level firmware validation.
- Author, review, and validate architectural specifications and test methodologies.
- Identify improvements and potential pitfalls, including mitigation strategies, for proposed architectures.
Requirements
- MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of AMS electronics design flows, preferably for photonic communication channels.
- Proven track record of delivering successful high-volume silicon to market and understanding of the silicon product development flow.
- In-depth knowledge of mixed-signal circuit design in high-speed analog/photonic links, including device bring-up, control, and digital signal processing.
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments and test setups.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills for non-obvious problems.
- Ability and desire to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team.
Benefits
- Comprehensive Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Retirement Savings Matching Program
- Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
- Generous Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
- Paid Family Leave
- Short Term & Long Term Disability
