Langfuse is building the "Datadog" for LLM engineering, offering an open-source platform for tracing, evaluation, and prompt management. Having joined ClickHouse, we are accelerating our mission to help teams build useful AI applications. Our SDKs are a critical part of the developer experience, downloaded millions of times monthly, and your work will directly shape how developers interact with our platform. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain deep expertise in LLM engineering by working closely with cutting-edge AI applications and ambitious software engineers.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain SDKs in Python and TypeScript, ensuring reliability, performance, and excellent developer experience.
- Design intuitive and developer-friendly APIs for SDKs, considering naming, parameter structure, and communication of breaking changes.
- Integrate Langfuse with over 40 AI frameworks and model providers, maintaining existing integrations and adding new ones as the ecosystem evolves.
- Maintain and ensure the robustness of the OpenTelemetry (OTLP) endpoint for direct trace ingestion.
- Write and own public documentation for SDKs, integration guides, and migration paths.
- Collaborate with the OpenTelemetry community to influence GenAI conventions.
Requirements
- Strong engineering skills with a focus on developer experience, API design, and writing reliable production code.
- Experience building or maintaining SDKs, client libraries, or developer tools, preferably in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Deep understanding of performance optimization, including profiling, benchmarking, and minimizing CPU/memory overhead.
- Ability to manage projects independently, from conception to shipping.
- Thoughtful approach to versioning, backwards compatibility, and migration paths.
- Interest in open source software and engaging with developers.
- Ability to thrive in a small, accountable team environment.
- CS or quantitative degree preferred.
