LangChain is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for building LangSmith, our observability and evaluation platform for LLM applications. This role involves defining the technical direction, mentoring a team of engineers, and collaborating with product and design to deliver features that empower developers to build and deploy trustworthy AI systems. You will foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence, ensuring the scalability and reliability of our platform. The position requires a strong technical background and a bias towards shipping quickly while learning from customers.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers.
- Foster collaboration, ownership, and accountability within the team.
- Strengthen engineering culture through mentorship and technical excellence.
- Shape long-term technical direction for scalability and reliability.
- Partner with product and design to define project scope and success criteria.
- Maintain high technical standards while ensuring team focus and urgency.
- Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Engage directly with customers to understand needs and drive product improvements.
Requirements
- Experience managing or tech-leading teams delivering complex full-stack products.
- Strong technical background in Go/Python and React/Typescript.
- Solid understanding of databases (Postgres, Redis, ClickHouse).
- Proven ability to design high throughput data-intensive systems.
- Bias towards shipping quickly and learning from customers.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and customer engagement.
- Experience building AI/LLM-powered applications, developer tools, or observability platforms (bonus).
