LangChain is seeking a hands-on Detection & Response Engineer to join their Security team. This role is crucial for monitoring, preventing, and learning from threats across LangChain's production platform, cloud infrastructure, and agentic workloads. You will collaborate with Product Security to translate threat models and incidents into effective telemetry and detections. The primary focus is on engineering scalable detection, investigation, and response systems that enhance the Security team's impact beyond manual operations, requiring strong software engineering skills and a builder's mindset.
Responsibilities
- Own the detection lifecycle, translating threat models and incidents into detections-as-code and validating coverage.
- Build security monitoring and telemetry pipelines across cloud (GCP/AWS), Kubernetes, and the LangSmith/LangGraph control plane.
- Engineer investigation and threat hunting tools and workflows for proactive hunting and incident scoping.
- Develop internal AI agents and automation to triage alerts, enrich findings, and accelerate security work.
- Lead incident response efforts, including triage, containment, remediation, and driving postmortems for engineering improvements.
- Partner with Product Security to integrate threat models and vulnerability findings into production monitoring and feedback loops.
Requirements
- 5+ years in security engineering with experience in detection engineering, security operations, or incident response.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python or Go; TypeScript is a plus.
- Experience with cloud (GCP/AWS) logging, Kubernetes audit and runtime telemetry, and workload identity.
- Ability to model attacker behavior, hunt across complex systems, and test detection coverage.
- Hands-on incident response experience, including on-call participation and writing postmortems.
- Experience building reliable automation or developer-facing systems with APIs and production operation.
- Pragmatic product mindset with the ability to prioritize and ship iteratively.
