LangChain is seeking a Head of People Operations to own the People Operations function end-to-end. This role is responsible for architecting and running the essential infrastructure that employees rely on, including compliance, HRIS, benefits, leave programs, global employment, policy, and the automations that streamline these processes. Reporting to the VP of People, this individual will have significant scope and authority, with the opportunity to build a small team as the company scales. This is a hands-on, build-oriented role focused on creating compounding operational systems that automate manual tasks and allow the team to focus on strategic work.
Responsibilities
- Own People Ops end-to-end, including HRIS integrity, benefits administration, leave and accommodations management, compliance, and onboarding/offboarding programs.
- Build and maintain the company's compliance layer, covering US multi-state requirements, global employment law, contractor classification, immigration coordination, and audit readiness.
- Manage Rippling as the system of record, including workflow configuration, data integrity, automation, and payroll coordination.
- Lead global employment operations, managing EoR provider relationships, international contractor agreements, and scalable hiring infrastructure across various geographies.
- Architect and govern People policies, including the employee handbook, leave frameworks, STD/LTD administration, and outside activity policies.
- Build People Ops automations and workflows, defining the roadmap and executing on automation initiatives.
- Manage employee relations and accommodations processes with confidentiality and consistency.
- Contribute to People data and reporting, ensuring headcount data integrity and supporting People analytics.
- Evaluate and govern AI tools used in People Ops for accuracy, data handling, fairness, and auditability.
- Support SOC2 and audit readiness as the People Ops owner for compliance audits.
- Build and manage a small team of People Ops coordinators as the company grows.
Requirements
- 8+ years in People Ops or HR Operations, with significant experience owning a People Ops function at a high-growth technology company during a scale-up phase.
- Deep, hands-on experience with Rippling, including workflow configuration, data integrity, reporting, and onboarding flows.
- Global employment experience across multiple regions, including EoR coordination and cross-border compliance.
- Proven experience building automations and workflows using tools like Zapier, Make, or LLM-assisted workflows.
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law and multi-state compliance, including leave.
