About the job
We are seeking a visiting AI Engineer to lead the next stage of development for Context Hub, an open-source CLI tool that provides AI coding agents with up-to-date API documentation. This role is hands-on, focusing on designing and building infrastructure, improving how agents discover and consume documentation, and evolving Context Hub into a comprehensive knowledge-sharing platform for AI agents. You will work directly with Andrew Ng and the team, shaping the future of how AI coding agents gather context and write code, with features used by thousands of developers daily. The ideal candidate is highly GenAI-enabled, leverages AI-powered tools, possesses deep curiosity about AI agents and developer tooling, and has a passion for open source.
Responsibilities
- Own Context Hub end-to-end, defining its technical direction, growth strategy, and community health.
- Engage directly with the developer community to understand user needs and identify future development priorities.
- Invent new methods for AI agents to discover and utilize knowledge, pushing the boundaries of documentation retrieval and agent collaboration.
- Build and maintain the Context Hub CLI and core infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance at scale.
- Design and implement systems for intelligent documentation retrieval, versioning, and curation.
- Develop features enabling agents to annotate, enrich, and share knowledge, contributing to a self-improving documentation ecosystem.
- Collaborate with the open-source community, reviewing contributions and maintaining a high-quality contributor experience.
- Experiment with LLM-based approaches to automate documentation validation, summarization, and quality improvement.
- Instrument, monitor, and optimize tool performance and developer experience based on usage data.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to define the product roadmap and technical direction.
- Work with internal teams to create content, processes, and AI-powered solutions for community support.
Requirements
- Product sense for developer tools, with a track record of shipping developer-facing products.
- Understanding of open-source community dynamics, contributor motivation, and community building.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js, with experience in building and shipping CLI tools, SDKs, or developer infrastructure.
- Very strong understanding of LLMs and AI coding agents, with experience building applications that integrate with or orchestrate language models.
- Experience with npm package publishing, versioning, and open-source project maintenance.
- Strong systems thinking, capable of designing clean, extensible, and well-documented APIs, data models, and architectures.
- AI fluency, with a strong conceptual understanding of AI trends and technologies, and familiarity with AI-powered coding tools.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable as a self-starter in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Benefits
- Contract role with potential for growth.
