Lambda, a leader in AI cloud infrastructure, is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their new Cloud Foundations team. This role is crucial in defining and building the account, access, and network foundation for Lambda's AI cloud. You will translate policy into practical, automated controls and self-service paved paths, enabling hundreds of engineers to operate safely and efficiently. This position requires a strong understanding of AWS at scale, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud networking, with a focus on driving governance, security, and cost accountability. You will also contribute to shaping the team's operational model and participate in an on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the IaC execution platform (Terraform, Atlantis) for infrastructure changes.
- Design and operate Lambda's cloud account, access, and IAM structure.
- Own the cloud network foundation, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, and DNS.
- Drive AWS cloud governance, including tagging standards, compliance guardrails, and cost visibility.
- Implement least-privilege access and compliance automation.
- Help shape the new team's scope, priorities, and service boundaries.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and ensure system reliability and observability.
- Document owned systems thoroughly.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud platform, or cloud security engineering.
- Deep experience managing AWS at scale (multi-account organizations, IAM, SCPs, resource organization).
- Strong foundation in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and associated tooling.
- Solid cloud networking fundamentals (VPC design, transit/hybrid connectivity, DNS, edge/CDN).
- Proficiency in writing automation and tooling in Go and/or Python.
- Experience using AI tools in daily workflows.
- Ability to build for broad adoption.
- Comfort with ambiguity and clarifying ownership.
- Skill in distilling complex problems and understanding underlying 'why'.
- Commitment to monitoring and measuring the impact of built systems.
