About the job
Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems to be safe and beneficial for users and society. The Endpoint team, also known as Client Platform Engineering, views Anthropic's device fleet as a distributed platform. This role involves owning the entire endpoint platform, from the underlying MDM infrastructure to device configuration, patching, software deployment, and telemetry. You will build zero-touch provisioning, manage rapid patching, and develop automation, including Claude-driven workflows, to reduce operational overhead. This position sits at the intersection of security and developer experience, collaborating with security teams on hardening and compliance, and with development teams to ensure controls do not impede productivity. The work will also establish the foundation for device trust-based access decisions.
Responsibilities
- Own endpoint configuration as code, including authoring, reviewing, testing, and rolling out MDM policies, configuration profiles, and remediation scripts across macOS, Windows, and mobile with canary stages and rollback.
- Operate the MDM platform as a production service, managing its infrastructure as code, observability, upgrades, and incident response.
- Build patch management automation with rapid enforcement timelines while maintaining a good user experience.
- Design zero-touch provisioning to enable productive use of devices from day one.
- Manage software distribution for the entire fleet, including managed app distribution for mobile devices.
- Translate fleet telemetry into policy, dashboards, and early drift warnings, and develop automation with Claude to eliminate operational toil.
- Partner with Corporate Security on endpoint hardening, binary authorization, and compliance controls.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for endpoint issues that IT Operations cannot resolve.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building secure IT systems in complex environments, or equivalent leadership experience for Staff level.
- Experience managing endpoint fleets of thousands of macOS and Windows devices using a modern MDM.
- Proficiency in treating endpoint configuration as code, moving beyond console clicking through scripted deployments or GitOps.
- Deep expertise in one platform (macOS internals like launchD, configuration profiles, TCC, system extensions, or Windows internals like CSPs, registry, PowerShell, BitLocker) with hands-on experience in the other.
- Ability to solve ambiguous problems with multiple stakeholders.
- Clear communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Applying product engineering rigor to IT Engineering.
- Successfully delivering complex projects from conception to production.
- Writing clear documentation as a standard practice.
