Ironclad is building AI solutions on a massive scale, focusing on the critical domain of enterprise contracts. The Intelligence Platform team specifically owns Agent Assistant, Conversational Search, and Content Understanding, which are core AI capabilities enabling customers and AI agents to effectively interact with contract data. This role involves owning the architecture that integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) with retrieval systems to address complex questions about customer contracts. You will be instrumental in setting technical direction, partnering with product and science leaders, and driving improvements in search quality through rigorous evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve agentic search architecture, combining LLMs and retrieval for optimal answers.
- Design and execute benchmarks and experiments to measure and improve search quality.
- Contribute to and influence the company's overall search quality standards.
- Develop and utilize NLP/LLM models and pipelines for content understanding and ingestion.
- Define architectural decisions and technical direction for the AI organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years building production systems, with significant experience in search, information retrieval, content understanding, or recommendation systems at scale.
- Demonstrated depth in learned/hybrid retrieval, query understanding/NLU pipelines, or production LLM agent systems.
- Experience with search frameworks (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr, Vespa, OpenSearch) in production, including relevance tuning and reranking.
- Fluency with modern LLM APIs and multi-provider orchestration (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google), considering token budgets, tool-calling semantics, and prompt-caching.
- Experience building eval-driven workflows (offline benchmarks, regression detection, A/B testing).
- Strong autonomy, ownership, and technical leadership, including mentoring senior engineers.
