About the job
Ironclad is building AI solutions on a unique and consequential dataset of over 2 billion contracts, aiming to transform the enterprise software space. As a Principal Engineer, you will architect, build, and verify solutions that scale AI capabilities across the company's product suite. This role involves driving the foundation for AI-powered contract intelligence features and the supporting platform, working in a fast-paced environment with a short feedback loop and rich data. You will collaborate cross-functionally to identify business problems and deliver impact quickly, contributing to a category that is still being defined.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to spec, design, architect, and build features and systems.
- Own and evolve core platform architecture, including service boundaries, data models, multi-tenant scale, and reliability, to safely and efficiently support AI capabilities.
- Partner with quality engineers to define, build, and maintain the testing strategy.
- Lead technical discussions, mentor, and provide feedback to other engineers.
- Grow the team by interviewing and recruiting talented engineers.
- Build AI solutions and apply AI tools and features such as LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, and classification.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of AI-powered product experiences, from problem definition and experimentation to production systems.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software experience architecting, building, launching, and maintaining complex systems.
- Experience operating at a Principal level, driving technical strategy and architectural evolution across organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership across teams and a drive to improve overall technical architecture and achieve company-wide goals.
- Deep experience designing and evolving large-scale, distributed SaaS or platform architectures (e.g., multi-tenant systems, event-driven systems, data platforms).
- Experience in building AI applications and shipping AI-powered product features to production, ideally including LLM integration, retrieval, experimentation, and measurement.
- Hands-on experience shipping valuable products to production with real user feedback.
- Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
