Inworld is a research lab building top-ranked real-time voice models used in large consumer-facing AI applications. Our work spans research and development of state-of-the-art models, optimizing real-time inference, and creating best-in-class APIs and products. We are looking for strong individuals from varied backgrounds who learn fast, thrive in ambiguity, and can demonstrate their built, broken, and understood work. We value researchers who can clarify ambiguous problems, design experiments to find answers, and treat evaluation as a critical research product. Impact is prioritized, though sharing work that advances the field is supported.
Responsibilities
- Frame research questions, run experiments, write papers, and ship results.
- Design and conduct experiments to clarify ambiguous problems and find answers.
- Treat evaluation as a first-class research product.
- Collaborate daily with US-based leadership and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience with foundation models: training, new architectures, RL, reward modeling, scaling.
- Experience with evaluation: benchmarks, eval loops, quality measurement, LLM-as-judge, failure analysis.
- Experience with frontier topics: multimodal models, agents, tool use, test-time compute, world models.
- Published research at ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, EMNLP, ACL, or AAAI.
- PhD in ML/NLP or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated public work: non-trivial AI side projects, interdisciplinary experiments, open-source contributions.
- Professional fluency in English (written and spoken).
