About the job
As a Senior Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will collaborate directly with clients and internal delivery teams to build and deploy AI-powered solutions. You will own projects end-to-end, from scoping ambiguous problems and prototyping AI workflows to deploying scalable systems. This hybrid role combines AI engineering, software development, and technical consulting, offering a hands-on experience with models and their impact.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with delivery leaders to scope technical solutions for operational problems.
- Identify and build workflow optimizations through deep engagement with customer problems.
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows using LLMs, embedding models, retrieval systems, and automation tools.
- Translate real-world constraints into elegant engineering solutions.
- Iterate quickly based on real-time feedback from operators and clients.
- Build reusable tooling and infrastructure to accelerate future deployments.
- Be on-call for customers when situations arise.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building data, ML, or backend systems.
- Deep proficiency in Python with hands-on experience using Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, Pinecone, and related ecosystems.
- Skilled in full-stack and API-based deployment patterns, including Docker, FastAPI, Kubernetes, and cloud environments (GCP, AWS).
- Experienced with workflow orchestration libraries, pub/sub systems (Kafka), and schema governance.
- Expertise in data governance and operations, including Unity Catalog, policy management, cluster/job orchestration, data contracts, quality enforcement, Delta/ETL pipelines, and replay processes.
- Strong product and system design instincts to translate business needs into technical architecture.
- Experience building usable systems from messy data and ambiguous requirements.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with experience leading conversations with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience owning projects from scoping through deployment in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
- Willingness to travel for on-site client engagements.
- Available to work from the office a few days per week, depending on team needs.
Benefits
- Annual salary range: $180,000 - $264,000 USD
- Bonuses and equity included in all full-time offers.
