About the job
The Institute of Foundation Models (IFM) is seeking a Developer Relations & Community Manager to empower developers to discover, build with, and maximize the utility of IFM's foundation models, including K2, JAIS, and PAN. This role involves being a hands-on technical advocate for the developer community across platforms like GitHub, Discord, and Hugging Face, and within the broader open-model ecosystem. You will be responsible for creating essential technical resources and community programs that guide developers from initial download to their first successful implementation. Furthermore, you will act as a conduit, relaying developer needs back to the research, engineering, and product teams to address challenges and ensure IFM builds what developers require.
Responsibilities
- Define metrics for developer success based on adoption, usage, and downloads.
- Utilize data from downloads, GitHub issues, and community questions to prioritize tutorials, demos, and events.
- Plan and execute the developer experience for all model releases, ensuring timely delivery of quickstarts, sample applications, and integration guides.
- Build and manage onboarding and engagement within IFM's GitHub, Discord, and Hugging Face channels, addressing technical inquiries.
- Lead and participate in developer events, workshops, and hackathons.
- Identify, recruit, and recognize key community contributors and projects.
- Develop production-quality sample applications, tutorials, documentation, and integration guides.
- Understand and cater to the needs of diverse developer segments, from individual researchers to enterprise teams.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications on developer campaigns and educational content.
- Test and optimize the developer onboarding process, working with engineering to remove friction points.
- Establish technical partnerships with frameworks and platforms like Hugging Face, vLLM, and Ollama.
- Advocate for developer needs internally and translate feedback into product and content priorities.
- Collaborate with researchers to create accessible educational resources from IFM's AI capabilities.
Requirements
- Five or more years in developer relations, developer experience, or technical product/engineering roles with a proven track record of growing a developer ecosystem.
- Strong technical credibility with an understanding of AI and machine learning systems and API concepts.
- Ability to explain complex technical ideas to various audiences.
- Hands-on technical ability to write production-quality code demos and critically review developer samples.
- Proven ability to influence research, product, engineering, and marketing teams without direct authority.
- Experience working with large language models or generative AI (preferred).
- Public speaking experience at industry conferences and developer events (preferred).
- Experience as an open-source maintainer or contributor (preferred).
- Existing network in open-source and AI developer communities (preferred).
