Indicium AI is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join their team. This role acts as a crucial link between enterprise data systems and advanced AI execution, embedding directly with client leadership. You will be responsible for transforming complex data landscapes and operational workflows into robust, production-grade multi-agent platforms, real-time retrieval systems, and LLM evaluation architectures. This is a hands-on "builder-consultant" position for engineers who are passionate about both technical excellence and delivering tangible business impact.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy custom data interfaces and tool servers using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and function calling to enable autonomous AI agents to interact with enterprise data sources.
- Build high-performance data pipelines, vector search, and RAG layers over Lakehouse environments to optimize query runtimes over large datasets.
- Collaborate closely with client technical teams to conduct requirements discovery, lead architecture reviews, and rapidly develop production Proofs of Concept (PoCs).
- Implement LLM evaluation frameworks, observability pipelines, and guardrails to monitor agent behavior and ensure reliability in regulated environments.
- Work with client security teams to enforce access controls, data isolation, and zero-data-leakage constraints.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and deploying production multi-agent systems, RAG platforms, and MCP servers using frameworks like LangGraph, AutoGen, or CrewAI.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, SQL, and Python, including expertise in optimizing analytical queries and processing unstructured enterprise documents.
- Strong foundation in quantitative methods, statistics, or applied ML to systematically evaluate model uncertainty and non-deterministic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, conduct technical discovery, handle pushback, and lead co-engineering efforts.
