About the job
HUD is seeking a Product Engineer to transform significant product challenges into tangible user experiences across its AI data platform and marketplace. This role involves collaborating with product, design, engineering, research, and go-to-market teams to identify user pain points in AI data creation and training, define product improvements, and develop solutions. The position blends product strategy, interaction design, and full-stack development, requiring the ability to translate complex technical workflows into clear and user-friendly interfaces while retaining necessary detail.
Responsibilities
- Engage with users and internal teams to identify challenges in creating, testing, evaluating, and discovering RL environments, and translate these into product priorities.
- Design, prototype, and launch product enhancements across HUD's platform and marketplace, managing the entire lifecycle from problem definition to iteration.
- Enhance the clarity and actionability of agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback through intuitive interfaces and workflows.
- Develop frontend and backend components to streamline vendor onboarding, environment submission, review, and discovery for research teams.
- Utilize user feedback and product data to assess effectiveness, refine user experiences, and inform product, design, and engineering trade-offs.
Requirements
- Proven track record of shipping end-to-end software products, from user problem identification through implementation and iteration.
- Strong product judgment, with the ability to discern underlying issues, define scope, and make informed decisions with incomplete information.
- Proficiency in interaction design with a commitment to clarity and usability in complex technical workflows.
- Full-stack engineering capabilities, including the development of polished web interfaces and supporting backend services or APIs.
- Comfort engaging directly with users and leveraging qualitative feedback and product data for product improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, engineers, and researchers.
- Experience with developer tools, data-rich products, marketplaces, or products serving specific user groups is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data is advantageous.
- Experience designing workflows for review, debugging, quality feedback, or complex operational tasks is beneficial.
- Experience identifying and owning product gaps within a growing, cross-functional team is desirable.
