HUD is seeking a Design Engineer to create and build user experiences across its AI data infrastructure products. This role involves making complex workflows for AI agent creation, evaluation, and training data management clear and actionable for users. You will collaborate closely with research and engineering teams, gather user feedback, and iterate on interfaces to improve usability and effectiveness. The position requires a blend of practical execution and strategic design thinking to shape how humans interact with advanced AI agents.
Responsibilities
- Design and build interfaces for HUD's platform and marketplace, from concept to launch.
- Make agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback understandable and actionable.
- Collaborate with research and engineering to transform complex RL and evaluation workflows into user-friendly tools.
- Engage with users to identify pain points and use insights to enhance the product.
- Develop thoughtful interaction patterns and maintain high standards for usability, visual quality, and implementation.
Requirements
- Strong product and interaction design judgment, particularly for complex tools or workflows.
- Proficient front-end engineering skills to translate designs into functional product interfaces.
- Proven track record of shipping products, incorporating user feedback, and iterative improvement.
- Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate them clearly to users.
- Good judgment regarding the balance between rapid iteration and detailed refinement.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working collaboratively with engineers, researchers, and users.
- Familiarity with AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data is a plus.
- Experience designing developer tools, data-rich products, or research software is a plus.
- Experience creating reusable interface patterns is a plus.
- Experience working independently in an early-stage company is a plus.
