Within is seeking a Staff Product Designer, a senior individual contributor who will act as a force multiplier across the company's AI-native enterprise product. This role involves leading complex and ambiguous design efforts from conception to completion, setting high standards for design craft and the integration of design with code. The designer will be instrumental in shaping the coherence of the AI-native enterprise product as a unified system. The position emphasizes hands-on work, close collaboration with engineering and product teams, and bringing designs to life through prototyping and direct contribution to the product's development. The company values systems thinking and a proven track record of shipping products over formal degrees.
Responsibilities
- Own a product area end-to-end, leading strategic design problems from definition to shipped experience.
- Set the systems vision for the product, ensuring coherence and anticipating cross-area collisions.
- Define the collaboration between design and code, bringing designs into the product and establishing prototyping and shipping practices.
- Own end-to-end UX for AI-native and agentic workflows, focusing on human-in-the-loop oversight, transparency, and trust.
- Drive product discovery and user research, grounding decisions in user needs and measurable outcomes.
- Own and evolve the design system to scale across design and code, ensuring consistency and enabling AI-assisted UI production.
- Mentor and elevate the design team through feedback and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Strong design foundation with a track record of building own work and improving team capabilities.
- AI-native thinking, with AI integrated into problem-solving approaches.
- Exceptional craft and taste in interaction design, hierarchy, states, and edge cases.
- Systems thinking applied to product scale, understanding component and flow integration.
- Comfort with ambiguity and high agency, identifying high-value problems and driving strategy.
- Extensive experience designing complex software.
- Track record of leading ambiguous, high-impact work end-to-end.
- Examples of raising the craft bar across a team.
