Hex is seeking full-stack engineers to join their mission of making everyone a data person. The platform empowers users to explore data using natural language, with or without code, on trusted context. As a full-stack engineer, you will be responsible for critical workflows that customers use to monitor and govern AI agents, ensuring accurate, trustworthy, and grounded answers. You will work across the full stack to shape the core user experience of Hex, contributing to the vision of being the control center for AI agents within the modern data stack.
Responsibilities
- Build observability tools for data teams to provide control and visibility over agent performance, usage metrics, and conversational audit trails.
- Design and implement AI context systems to manage diverse inputs like free-form rules, SQL queries, and semantic models.
- Create robust, full-stack workflows for data teams to govern, debug, and curate the Hex agent's knowledge, ensuring reliability and trustworthiness of AI-generated answers.
- Address back-end challenges related to SQL compilation, semantic model development, and serializing database context for deterministic AI outputs.
- Solve complex front-end UX challenges to present technical information in an actionable, clear, and intuitive user interface.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
- Proficiency in building full-stack applications with React, Typescript, and/or Python.
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development principles.
- Appreciation for elegant user experiences and robust, scalable service architecture.
- Empathy for data teams and understanding of challenges in data analysis and data warehousing.
- Excitement for working at the forefront of AI development, tackling problems in agentic reliability, governance, and model curation.
- Pragmatic and action-oriented approach focused on delivering high-quality, business-critical features.
