Hex is seeking experienced, backend-leaning product engineers to enhance our AI analytics platform. This role involves building complex workflows and AI features that augment analytics, with a focus on enabling our AI agent to operate across various surfaces like APIs and CLIs. You will contribute to a product team dedicated to reinventing data understanding through powerful, integrated AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Build and extend Hex’s API and CLI for powerful, ergonomic workflows.
- Design MCP server and client implementations to expand entry points.
- Design and implement a next-generation access control system (RBAC, admin flows, tiered roles).
- Own full-stack product changes end-to-end, ensuring enterprise features are intuitive, reliable, and secure.
- Propose and implement well-architected, scalable systems collaboratively.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend or full-stack software engineering experience.
- Skilled at building complex systems with intricate business logic.
- Deep interest and/or experience in developing agentic workflows involving disparate systems.
- Experience working in a remote-first team with strong communication skills.
- Passion for technical collaboration (RFCs, code reviews, architecture discussions).
- Hands-on familiarity with enterprise integrations (SSO, SCIM, audit logs, MFA, delegated access).
- Strategic mindset balancing business/product goals with engineering excellence.
- Willingness to make changes anywhere in the stack to drive impact.
