About the job
Hebbia is seeking an infrastructure engineer who views cloud infrastructure as a software problem. In this role, you will be responsible for Hebbia's entire AWS footprint, including accounts, networking, and container orchestration, all managed through code. You will also own the developer platform that our engineering teams utilize. The core of this position involves infrastructure-as-code, ensuring all provisioning is done programmatically. This is a hands-on build role focused on designing multi-account architectures, writing IaC for reproducible environments, optimizing cloud spend, securing infrastructure for enterprise and financial services, and streamlining the path to production for developers.
Responsibilities
- Own Hebbia's AWS footprint, including multi-account architecture, networking, IAM, and container orchestration.
- Define all infrastructure as code, adhering to the same review, testing, and versioning standards as application code.
- Manage cloud cost and capacity by modeling growth, right-sizing infrastructure, and automating the prevention of over-provisioning.
- Build and own the developer platform, including build pipelines, ephemeral environments, and development tooling.
- Continuously improve CI/CD processes to enable fast and safe team deployments, treating build times and pipeline throughput as key metrics.
- Harden infrastructure to meet the security and compliance standards required by financial services customers, including threat modeling, least-privilege access, secrets management, and automated compliance tooling.
- Architect for scale readiness, including multi-region capabilities, network and account isolation, and headroom for enterprise deployments.
- Partner with product engineering as a peer to co-design infrastructure alongside the systems it supports.
- Evaluate and integrate new infrastructure technologies that measurably improve scalability, security, or engineering velocity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure at a venture-backed startup or top technology firm.
- Deep expertise with infrastructure-as-code tooling and a proven track record of managing production infrastructure entirely in code.
- Production-depth fluency in AWS, including networking, IAM, and account architecture.
- Strong command of containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Production-grade proficiency in at least one scripting or backend language for automation and tooling (e.g., Python, Go).
- Strong CI/CD pipeline expertise and a demonstrated record of improving developer velocity safely.
- Working knowledge of OS-level and networking concepts, with the ability to debug cross-boundary issues.
- Experience instrumenting infrastructure with monitoring and observability tools.
- Hands-on experience securing cloud infrastructure to enterprise compliance standards.
- Experience managing cloud cost at scale or building cost-management tooling is a strong plus.
