Handshake AI Enterprise is a new business unit focused on building AI-powered applications for large companies. We deploy expert teams directly into enterprise environments to understand customer needs, identify AI impact areas, and develop agents to automate critical workflows. This role is for a Senior Frontend Engineer who will architect the foundational UI across the entire team, establishing the component system, design language, and engineering patterns. The goal is to set a high technical bar and make foundational decisions that enable scalability and quality.
Responsibilities
- Architect the frontend foundation for Handshake AI Enterprise, including component systems, design tokens, patterns, and engineering conventions.
- Make foundational technology decisions regarding frameworks, state management, rendering strategy, and performance budgets.
- Build shared libraries and abstractions to enable other engineers to work efficiently.
- Establish scalable code standards, review practices, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Applied AI and Platform engineers on API contracts and integration patterns.
- Ship production-grade UI for enterprise customer deployments while building the foundation.
- Evolve the frontend architecture as the team, product, and customer base grow.
Requirements
- 5-6+ years of frontend engineering experience with a strong architectural track record.
- Deep expertise in ReactJS and TypeScript.
- Proven experience building and maintaining shared component libraries or design systems.
- Strong opinions on frontend architecture (state management, rendering, performance, accessibility) and the ability to defend and evolve them.
- Experience making technology decisions with a focus on long-term maintainability.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Strong communication skills to align engineers, product, and design.
