About the job
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Handshake AI Enterprise, you will embed directly within enterprise customer environments as part of a small, expert team. Your role will involve deeply understanding each customer's business, including their workflows and bottlenecks, to translate this knowledge into production-grade AI agents that measurably transform their operations. This is a full-stack ownership role, encompassing solution definition, agent building and deployment, evaluation design, and iterative performance improvement. You will develop into a genuine domain expert within your customer's vertical, leveraging this expertise to continuously enhance AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Embed directly with enterprise customers to understand their business and workflows.
- Define AI-driven solutions tailored to specific business needs.
- Build and deploy production-grade agents, managing end-to-end delivery.
- Design and execute evaluations to measure agent performance and drive improvements.
- Develop domain expertise in customer verticals to build better AI.
- Collaborate with Product and Platform engineers to deliver cohesive solutions.
- Establish engineering best practices, agent patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Surface insights from deployments to inform the platform and product roadmap.
Requirements
- 1-4+ years of engineering experience, with strong backend depth and full-stack capabilities.
- Proven experience building and shipping AI applications in production.
- Strong understanding of agent architectures, evaluations, and AI performance measurement.
- Comfort working with enterprise customers in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
- Strong systems thinking ability, bridging business problems and technical solutions.
- High ownership mentality focused on outcomes.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with senior stakeholders.
