Halluminate is a data research lab focused on building benchmarks and RL environments to advance AI in knowledge work, initially targeting financial services and consulting workflows. As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will be the primary interface between our customers at AI Labs and Enterprises. You will actively participate in customer research meetings, deeply understand their needs, and develop software solutions that drive significant projects forward. This role involves a blend of client interaction, 0-to-1 product development, rapid prototyping, and scaling products in collaboration with core platform teams. Your engineering efforts will directly contribute to revenue generation and the advancement of frontier intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with frontier AI labs and enterprise customers to understand their requirements for RL environments.
- Translate customer needs into detailed technical specifications for platform and project teams.
- Develop, ship, and iterate on customer-specific environments and tooling from scratch.
- Utilize and extend existing internal platforms and development tools.
- Support project pods by resolving integration issues, debugging technical problems, and addressing last-mile challenges.
- Identify and communicate recurring patterns to the platform team to foster reusable capabilities.
- Maintain technical credibility throughout customer engagements, from initial scoping to final delivery.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in consulting or forward-deployed engineering for large enterprises with custom software.
- Strong engineering skills combined with comfort in direct customer interaction.
- Proven track record of shipping novel products under ambiguous conditions without predefined specifications.
- Ability to translate vague customer requests into technical requirements and explain technical constraints clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work at startup speed, iterating quickly and learning from mistakes.
- Experience building AI agent evaluations, environments, and benchmarks.
