About the job

Gong is seeking an engineer to build the foundational systems for its Talent Acquisition team. This role is a 0-to-1 build, focused on creating automations, integrations, and AI-powered workflows to connect disparate systems like HRIS, ATS, and interview intelligence tools. The goal is to provide recruiters and hiring managers with a unified view of candidate and employee data, enabling faster, data-driven decisions without manual intervention. You will be responsible for shipping functional systems that improve efficiency and provide actionable insights, rather than focusing on traditional recruiting tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and unify systems including Workday (HRIS), Greenhouse (ATS), Gem (sourcing), and BrightHire (interview intelligence).
  • Build a governed data and context layer for AI tools to access talent data accurately.
  • Develop agentic solutions for tasks such as automated reporting, bottleneck identification, self-serve pipeline status, candidate surfacing, interview quality analysis, offer risk prediction, and recruiter capacity modeling.
  • Contribute to build-vs-buy decisions for the talent technology stack.
  • Own outbound sourcing and offer effectiveness through structured experimentation and agent-based monitoring.
  • Collaborate with People Analytics, HRIS, and IT teams to ensure data governance and tooling alignment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building production solutions that integrate with external systems via APIs, OAuth, or webhooks.
  • Strong scripting/backend skills in Python or TypeScript/Node.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying data across systems.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs and tool/function-calling patterns.
  • Sound understanding of permissions and access-control design.
  • Experience designing and analyzing structured experiments (e.g., A/B testing).
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shaping a roadmap in a newly defined role.
