Glean is seeking a Cost Operations Lead to oversee initiatives focused on driving efficiency and cost savings within the company's AI and cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing a portfolio of cost-saving projects, setting priorities, ensuring savings are realized, and establishing cost attribution discipline across services, teams, and customers. The Lead will also manage LLM spend, govern internal AI tooling costs, and build an observability and automation layer for cost management, treating cost data with the same rigor as production telemetry.
Responsibilities
- Drive Cloud and AI/LLM efficiency initiatives.
- Own and prioritize all cost initiatives to achieve measurable efficiency and margin gains.
- Verify realized savings against projections and prevent cost regressions.
- Establish cost attribution discipline through per-service, per-team, per-customer, and per-feature tagging.
- Oversee LLM spend, including procurement and commitment sizing across providers.
- Govern internal AI tooling spend with user visibility, quotas, and value assessment.
- Build an observability and automation layer for cost management, including real-time attribution, anomaly detection, alerting, and automated triage.
- Automate cost-related tasks such as triage, regression detection, and self-serve attribution.
Requirements
- 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, developer productivity, or platform engineering.
- 3+ years leading cross-team programs or teams.
- Deep, hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure and AI/LLM economics.
- Proficiency in driving efficiency, capacity, or FinOps-adjacent programs.
- Experience with engineering operations principles like SLOs, error budgets, telemetry, and postmortems applied to spend.
- Strong SQL and data skills.
