About the job
Giga is seeking Senior Forward Deployed Engineers to scale its FDE organization. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on technical leadership within a pod of FDEs. You will own complex enterprise deployments, build essential tooling and practices to accelerate future deployments, and establish systems, patterns, and standards that will guide the entire FDE organization. You will operate with significant autonomy, making architectural decisions, debugging live production issues, and engaging directly with customer engineering leadership. Your leadership will be demonstrated through your code, design reviews, mentorship of other engineers, and continuous improvement of the FDE organization.
Responsibilities
- Own complex enterprise deployments end-to-end, including architecting agent systems, building integrations, and managing scope, speed, and quality trade-offs for aggressive timelines.
- Serve as the technical anchor for your pod, setting the engineering bar through design and code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and acting as the escalation point for critical live issues.
- Develop reusable assets such as evaluation harnesses, deployment tooling, debugging infrastructure, and common patterns to enhance efficiency across all pods.
- Translate deployment learnings into actionable product feedback, prototypes, and feature requests for core engineering to improve the platform.
- Act as a technical peer to customers, leading architecture discussions and serving as a trusted point of contact during production incidents.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production software engineering experience, preferably at companies with high engineering standards.
- Proven experience shipping and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in Python, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD.
- Proficiency in debugging distributed systems under pressure and quickly learning new integration surfaces.
- Hands-on experience with LLM agent systems, including orchestration, tool calling, evaluations, and context engineering.
- Understanding of latency budgets for real-time voice applications or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
- Ability to engage effectively with enterprise stakeholders, translate ambiguity into actionable plans, and maintain composure during critical production issues.
