Scale AI is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead for its Public Sector team to own high-impact projects focused on Generative AI and Large Language Models. This role involves working across operations, engineering, and customer engagement to produce high-quality training and test data for LLMs, particularly for Public Sector customers. You will be instrumental in building Generative AI data-labeling pipelines, creating operational processes for an expert data workforce, and developing novel technology-driven approaches to enhance data quality. This is a unique opportunity to contribute at the intersection of AI and national security, partnering with internal ML experts and external stakeholders to ensure data supports mission-critical AI applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop, build, and maintain efficient, scalable data pipelines for high-quality outputs.
- Manage day-to-day progress on high-priority data production pipelines.
- Partner with subject matter experts to validate data quality and translate domain knowledge into scalable processes.
- Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and design data taxonomies.
- Utilize analytics and data visualization tools to track progress and optimize pipeline performance.
- Influence cross-organizational collaboration to define and advance human data strategy.
- Take ownership of increasingly larger components of data delivery processes, ultimately leading customer pipelines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in product development, data science, or operations.
- Proven track record of successful project management and comfort with ambiguity.
- Ability to analyze complex operational data, build queries, and identify trends.
- Technical aptitude to understand data production for post-training techniques like SFT, RLHF, and RLVR.
- Experience working in defense tech and/or an AI company (nice to have).
- Technical degree in computer science, data science, or engineering (nice to have).
- Deep understanding of ML operations for generative AI workflows/products (nice to have).
- Active Top Secret security clearance (nice to have).
