About the job
You will own the core AI systems that power Gamma, focusing on productizing existing foundation models rather than training new ones. This involves optimizing models through prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning for maximum performance across Gamma's product surface. You will also be responsible for launching new modalities like voice and video, building evaluation infrastructure, and managing uptime, latency, and cost across the AI stack. The role requires close collaboration with engineering and product teams to deliver improvements that impact millions of users. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy pushing foundation models to their limits and are comfortable with both prompt engineering and production code development, blending these skills to unlock new AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve the quality of LLM and image prompts at scale for text, layout, and visual generation.
- Develop complex prompts for new features using AI JSX, balancing creativity and reliability.
- Build evaluation frameworks for prompts and models using quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback.
- Drive the AI roadmap by evaluating new frontier models and methods based on quality gaps.
- Curate datasets for fine-tuning open-source models and launch new modalities like voice and video.
- Manage analytics, tracking, uptime, latency, and cost for Gamma's AI infrastructure.
Requirements
- Proven experience pushing foundation models to their limits, including building and evaluating prompts at scale.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and Python, with a strong software engineering foundation.
- Strong data instincts, including experience with writing evaluations, designing metrics, and translating qualitative feedback into actionable improvements.
- Self-sufficient in gathering and cleaning data for prompt improvements and model evaluations.
- Experience with modern LLMs and image models (e.g., Flux, Imagen) is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI tooling like AI JSX and Braintrust is a plus.
