We are seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join our team and build AI-powered features that enhance our product and drive business outcomes. This is a hands-on, product-focused role where you will take ideas from concept to production, designing intelligent systems, validating them with users, and deploying them as reliable, scalable services. You will work at the intersection of AI, product, and engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, prototype, and iterate based on data. This role involves owning the full lifecycle of AI features, from experimentation and evaluation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying LLMs and modern ML tooling to real-world problems, with a focus on systems, tradeoffs, and production-level performance, quality, latency, and cost.
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy AI agents, including tool-calling LLM systems with structured output, parallel API orchestration, and streaming responses.
- Design evaluation harnesses and quality scoring systems for safety, effectiveness, and personalization.
- Manage the end-to-end AI development loop: prototyping, validation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Optimize reliability, latency, and cost through strategies like prompt caching, token budgeting, retry logic, and observability.
- Develop tools for agents, including API integrations with Pydantic validation, exercise search over local databases, and structured workout submission.
Requirements
- Strong Python skills with experience building and deploying services on large production systems.
- Experience with agent frameworks like LangChain/LangGraph.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs in production, including prompt engineering, tool/function calling, structured output, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in async Python, HTTP APIs, and streaming protocols (SSE, webhooks).
- Experience with data validation and schema design (Pydantic, JSON Schema).
- Ability to debug complex systems across multiple layers.
- Clear communication skills for collaboration with product and engineering teams.
