This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, offering opportunities to mentor engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive innovation in a fast-paced, AI-focused environment. You will be instrumental in delivering scalable, elegant, and highly performant solutions that directly impact hundreds of thousands of developers and the company's product vision. The position involves shaping and shipping the optimal developer journey, encompassing intuitive front-end interfaces, robust APIs, and efficient backend orchestration, integrated with a wide offering of open-source generative AI models.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end engineering ownership of the fireworks.ai platform, from UI to API and data layers, focusing on a delightful developer experience.
- Contribute to product-led growth through the web application, model playground, and user onboarding workflows.
- Design, develop, and test responsive, performant web applications and scalable backend services/APIs.
- Mentor and support full stack, frontend, and backend engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching.
- Define and implement full stack architectural standards, API design best practices, database schemas, and development workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Core AI/Infrastructure Engineering teams on requirements, system design, and delivery.
- Build and maintain reusable frontend component libraries and ensure modular, easily integrated backend services.
- Partner with other engineering teams to create a unified developer journey across web, SDK, and CLI surfaces.
- Champion application performance, security, data integrity, and accessibility across the software stack.
- Drive innovation by staying informed of emerging full stack trends, cloud-native technologies, and AI orchestration frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional experience in full stack software development.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Next.js.
- Strong expertise in building server-side applications, designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs, and working with Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Solid understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), caching strategies, and data modeling.
- Proven track record of delivering and scaling production-grade, full stack web applications.
- Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or OCI), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in AI/ML-focused environments, or interacting with LLM APIs, vector databases, and model orchestration tools is preferred.
- Prior startup experience, especially as a technical founder or early engineer, is a plus.
- Experience managing or mentoring other engineers is preferred.
- Prior experience building developer platforms, SaaS dashboards, or complex interactive environments is preferred.
- Contributions to open-source projects, internal component libraries, or developer tools are a plus.
Benefits

- Work with bleeding-edge technology impacting global AI adoption.
- Direct impact on the future of AI in a fast-growing team.
- Collaborate with world-class engineers and AI researchers.
