About the job
Fireworks is seeking a Developer Advocate to be the voice of their specialized intelligence platform for developers. In this role, you will be responsible for making Fireworks the go-to platform for building, fine-tuning, and serving frontier open models in production. This position requires a dual focus: you must be a hands-on engineer who ships code and understands technical nuances, and a public technical communicator who can clearly articulate complex topics through writing, speaking, and community engagement. You will be at the forefront of a rapidly evolving field, consistently staying ahead of new model releases and making it look repeatable rather than heroic. As one of the first advocates on the team, you will help set the standards for content, launch responses, and team presence.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship runnable code, including cookbooks, quickstarts, reference applications, and end-to-end tutorials for developers.
- Own the launch response for significant model or technique releases, providing working demos, honest benchmarks, and usage guides.
- Engage with developer communities on platforms like GitHub, X, Reddit, YouTube, and Hacker News, answering questions and contributing code.
- Present at conferences, lead workshops, mentor at hackathons, and host developer dinners.
- Act as the developer's advocate internally, relaying friction, feature gaps, and unmet needs to product and engineering teams with supporting evidence.
- Instrument and measure the impact of your work, focusing on adoption, activation, and time to first successful build.
Requirements
- 5+ years of combined engineering and developer-facing experience, with demonstrated expertise in both areas.
- Ability to ship code, read diffs, deploy models, and discuss technical concepts like batching and quantization.
- Strong public technical communication skills, including clear writing and engaging presentation abilities.
- Credibility and presence in developer communities.
- Ability to stay ahead of the rapid cadence of AI model releases and provide timely, authoritative resources.
- Experience setting standards for content and launch responses.
