Fireworks is seeking its first dedicated Compensation Partner to translate the company's compensation philosophy into practical application. This role will build the essential systems and processes for benchmarking, reviewing, and adjusting compensation as the organization grows rapidly. The Compensation Partner will be responsible for hands-on execution, including market research, managing review cycles, ensuring data accuracy, and serving as the primary resource for compensation-related inquiries from HRBPs and leaders. Additionally, this role will collaborate closely with Finance to develop and refine the company's equity framework, bringing a compensation perspective to financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Translate compensation philosophy into practical guardrails, bands, and decision frameworks.
- Ensure pay practices align with compensation philosophy and correct any drift.
- Maintain competitive and agile compensation posture responsive to market shifts.
- Own and evolve job architecture and salary bands based on roles, levels, and market changes.
- Conduct ongoing market research and benchmarking to ensure band competitiveness.
- Proactively recommend band adjustments.
- Maintain accurate compensation data and serve as the source of truth for Finance, People Ops, and HRBPs.
- Own compensation system implementation and administration, ensuring scalability.
- Generate clear analysis and recommendations for leadership from compensation data.
- Design and own the end-to-end compensation review cycle.
- Partner with HRBPs to roll out the compensation review program and adapt it to specific functions.
- Develop manager-facing tools and guidance for consistent pay decisions.
- Own the strategic direction of the benefits program across geographies.
- Partner with People Ops to connect benefits strategy and execution.
- Evolve the benefits framework for new locations or headcount milestones.
- Partner with Finance on equity compensation design, including options and RSUs.
- Support equity-related modeling, guidelines, and decision-making.
- Ensure equity practices align with the overall compensation philosophy.
- Act as a subject matter expert for pay decisions, offer approvals, and job evaluations.
- Educate and enable HRBPs and managers on compensation frameworks and decision-making.
Requirements
- 6+ years of progressive compensation experience, including maintaining and evolving comp programs (bands, review cycles, market benchmarking) in a fast-growing company.
- Direct experience with equity compensation (options, RSUs, or similar).
- Comfort partnering with Finance on equity framework design.
- Strong analytical foundation, including market data analysis, compensation modeling, and translating data into recommendations.
- Hands-on, do-er mindset with comfort owning processes and details.
- Experience partnering with HRBPs, Finance, and People Ops as equal stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills for explaining compensation mechanics to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with relevant compensation systems and survey data sources (e.g., Workday, Radford, Pave, Carta Total Comp).
