Figma is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to manage and grow its AI Infrastructure team. This team builds the foundational inference systems that power Figma's AI products, ensuring reliability, observability, and seamless integration of cutting-edge models. The role involves defining and executing technical strategy, collaborating across engineering, and directly contributing to the core AI platform. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing team at the ground floor and shape the future of AI at Figma.
Responsibilities
- Lead, grow, and support a team of engineers building foundational infrastructure for Figma’s AI products.
- Partner with engineering and product leaders to define the team’s technical strategy and manage project execution.
- Hire, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers to scale the team.
- Engage deeply with technical details and decisions to help the team deliver a robust AI platform.
- Build an inclusive team and culture through thoughtful team-building and hiring practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams, ideally in the AI space.
- 8+ years of total engineering experience, ideally reaching a staff engineering level as an individual contributor.
- Experience working on production AI systems.
- Proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and growing experienced AI engineering leads.
- Demonstrated experience learning new AI technologies quickly and building technical depth in new domains.
- Experience building and scaling engineering teams and organizational structure.
