This role will focus on building the foundational systems that power Figma’s next generation of AI-driven products and data experiences. You will be an early engineer shaping the company's ML and data platform, enabling self-serve analytics and production-grade AI systems. The position involves working at the intersection of data, infrastructure, and machine learning to build scalable systems that empower Data Science, unlock AI capabilities, and bring data and models closer to the product experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve the shared data platform for analytics, Data Science, and data-driven product development.
  • Improve data development speed and ease through enhancements in local development, testing, CI/CD, staging, and deployment workflows.
  • Create self-service tools and clear processes for teams to build, deploy, and operate reliable data pipelines.
  • Enhance the reliability of critical data systems via improved monitoring, data quality, incident response, upgrades, and performance management.
  • Facilitate the discovery and use of trusted data by establishing clear definitions, ownership, lineage, and reliability expectations.
  • Collaborate with various teams (Data Engineering, Data Infrastructure, Data Science, Research, Modeling Platform, Security, Product Engineering) to define ownership and supported patterns for data delivery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production data platforms, developer infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python or similar languages.
  • Experience designing reliable and scalable systems.
  • Experience improving developer workflows (local development, testing, CI/CD, orchestration, deployment).
  • Experience with modern data infrastructure (cloud data warehouses, transformation frameworks, workflow orchestrators, infrastructure as code, observability tools).
  • Proven track record of owning shared systems end-to-end.
  • Experience leading ambiguous cross-functional projects.
  • Effective communication skills with Data Science, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering partners.

Benefits

  • Mental health and wellness benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Paid sick leave
