Exa is an applied AI lab building a revolutionary search engine. We develop massive-scale infrastructure to crawl the web, train state-of-the-art embedding models, and design high-performance vector databases. Our goal is to create perfect search over all the world's information, surpassing current capabilities. This role is for an ML Research Engineer focused on training embedding models for this mission, involving the design of novel transformer-based search architectures, dataset creation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Train embedding models for perfect search over the web.
- Dream up and implement novel transformer-based search architectures.
- Create large-scale datasets for model training.
- Develop evaluation systems to measure search quality improvements.
- Beat internal state-of-the-art model performance.
Requirements
- Graduate-level ML experience (Master's or PhD with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or exceptionally strong undergrad).
- Ability to code a transformer from scratch in PyTorch.
- Experience creating large-scale datasets and deep data analysis.
- Passion for finding high-quality knowledge and its importance.
