Dscout is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join their AI Training & Evals team. This new unit focuses on generating human data and evaluations to ensure AI models perform effectively for real users in real-world contexts. You will partner with Strategic Project Leads to translate customer needs into technical plans, build necessary components, and ensure the quality and delivery of data for AI training and evaluation. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI problems, build on an existing mature platform, and directly influence product development by identifying customer needs and contributing to the core platform.
Responsibilities
- Scope and shape customer programs by translating customer needs into technical plans.
- Determine whether to reuse existing platform features, extend them, or build new solutions.
- Build capture flows, task logic, data pipelines, and delivery mechanisms across web, mobile, and backend.
- Ship production code for customer programs involving real participants.
- Utilize coding agents and evaluations as part of the development process and promote their adoption.
- Own data quality aspects including redaction, validation, provenance, and clean delivery.
- Design and implement quality checks and human-review processes.
- Collaborate with the research team to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Work with core engineering to integrate successful custom builds into the main platform.
- Provide feedback on customer requests to inform future platform development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience shipping production full-stack software.
- Ability to translate vague customer requests into the shortest viable technical solution.
- Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders to understand and deliver on requirements.
