Distyl AI is seeking an AI Engineer, Enterprise Lead to join their team. This role involves leading the technical success of complex enterprise AI deployments for ambitious institutions across various industries. You will be responsible for setting technical direction, ensuring architectural coherence, and developing AI engineering talent. The ideal candidate will operate across different levels, from executive reasoning to deep technical judgment, and will be instrumental in ensuring production AI systems deliver durable business value in challenging customer environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical success of complex enterprise AI deployments, potentially across multiple use cases, systems, workstreams, and teams.
- Set technical direction for engagements, ensuring coherence in architecture, system behavior, evaluation, integrations, and operational practices.
- Develop AI Engineer Leads, senior individual contributors, and emerging technical leaders.
- Serve as the senior technical partner to customer executives, architects, and business partners.
- Maintain technical proximity to live systems through design reviews, debugging, and incident reviews.
- Utilize AI-native engineering practices to increase leverage and model effective use of AI tools.
- Partner with company leadership on staffing, organizational design, leadership development, and customer expansion.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including leading technical teams through ambiguous, high-stakes production delivery.
- Multi-team technical leadership experience, with the ability to create clarity, set standards, develop leaders, and keep teams aligned.
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent and raise the capability of engineers.
- Experience taking responsibility for the delivery of complex technical deployments and customer value.
- Deep understanding of production software, including architecture, debugging, testing, observability, performance, maintainability, and security.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-trust, high-visibility customer environments and communicate clearly with executives.
- AI-native working style, using AI tools daily for coding, debugging, analysis, and automation.
- Willingness to travel 20-40%.
