Deepgram is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Enterprise AI team, a new unit focused on solving complex problems in the Voice AI economy. This role involves working directly with leading restaurant enterprises and technology partners to address high-impact challenges such as ultra-robust ASR in noisy environments, high-accuracy ordering agents, real-time analytics, and hardware integration. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with an AI-first mindset, actively using and experimenting with AI tools, and adapting to the rapid pace of innovation in the field. This position offers the opportunity to push the boundaries of LLMs and voice AI technology to solve historically elusive challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems for an automated order-taking platform.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate backend systems with ML models and client devices.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of backend systems in production.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party restaurant software systems (POS, loyalty, payment gateways, customer data platforms).
- Implement best practices in system design, code quality, and testing.
- Optimize AI pipelines to improve performance in challenging audio environments, handle ambiguous requests, and scale to new menus.
- Advance LLMs and voice AI technology to solve industry challenges.
- Run experiments to validate the product impact of new functionality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining backend infrastructure in production.
- Proven track record of building and deploying scalable, high-performance backend systems.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment technologies (e.g., AWS, API design).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to a fast-evolving startup environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to problem-solve across the entire product.
- Ability to proactively identify and solve problems.
