Deepgram is seeking a founding engineer to build the "Intelligence Layer," a system of autonomous agents that monitor, reason, and act on company data to drive revenue and operational excellence. This role involves building API-based tools, dbt models, and semantic layers that enable AI agents to navigate the data environment autonomously, rather than creating traditional dashboards. The ideal candidate will be an AI-first thinker, comfortable experimenting with and integrating advanced AI tools into their daily work, and adapting to the rapid pace of AI development.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dbt and SQL models for complex revenue models.
- Develop tools and permissions for 'Analyst Agents' to query data and identify issues.
- Collaborate with the Engineering/Infra team to ensure data contracts are agent-ready.
- Ingest and process internal call audio data into queryable insights.
- Promote a culture of automating manual SQL tasks.
Requirements
- 5+ years in high-growth Data or AI Engineering roles.
- Mastery of production-grade SQL and Python.
- Proven track record of building RAG or Agentic systems on structured data.
- Familiarity with usage-based SaaS metrics (consumption, gross margins, NRR).
- Comfort working with evolving infrastructure and transforming messy data into business logic.
