Deepgram is seeking a backend software engineer to lead the design and implementation of its Voice Agent product. This role involves designing and implementing secure, robust, and scalable services for speech processing, building integrations for telephony providers and RAG systems, and engineering for testability and observability within a complex chain of AI models. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in building reusable code and a good intuition for user experiences, playing a critical role in driving high-impact products from conception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Improve core inference services, including networking, speech processing, model orchestration, and observability.
- Develop integrations with cutting-edge AI models for perception and conversational dynamics.
- Debug complex system issues involving networking, scheduling, and concurrent workloads.
- Rapidly customize backend services to meet customer needs.
- Partner with Product to design and implement new services, features, and products end-to-end.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience.
- Programming experience in Rust (or C, C++).
- Competence in Python.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- High level of experience and understanding of version control, preferably Git.
- Comprehensive experience with UNIX-style systems.
