About the job
This internship focuses on enhancing the usefulness of AI agents in real-world applications by providing them with the right tools, context, and persistent memory across conversations and sessions. The core of the work involves the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and agent memory, exploring how agents discover and safely utilize tools, manage learned information, and remain helpful without constant supervision. The ultimate goal is to deliver practical value to daily agent users through clean, extensible implementations.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve MCP servers and clients, including tool definitions, input/output handling, error management, and runnable examples.
- Experiment with agent memory mechanisms, focusing on what data to store, how to retrieve it, and its impact on task quality.
- Integrate tools and memory into agent workflows to identify and address confusion, slowness, or errors.
- Implement small, clear changes such as documentation updates, fixture improvements, smoke tests, and fixes to reduce friction for teammates.
- Transform rough ideas into functional implementations and refine them based on observed performance.
- Collaborate with experienced team members and take ownership of subsequent development tasks.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and a commitment to rapid skill improvement.
- Curiosity about AI agent mechanics, including tools, prompts, context windows, and factors influencing task success or failure.
- Interest in MCP, specifically how servers expose tools, how clients interact with them, and maintaining a simple, reliable contract.
- Interest in agent memory, including storage strategies, retrieval methods, and their effect on agent capabilities.
- Ability to take a vague problem, develop a small-scale version, and demonstrate learnings.
- Clear communication skills, including articulating when stuck, sharing attempted solutions, and assisting teammates.
- Adherence to good engineering practices such as writing readable code, implementing small tests, and providing clear documentation.
- Openness to feedback and willingness to adapt to better approaches, correct mistakes, or adopt simpler solutions.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
- Flexible Time Off Program
- Paid Holidays
- Paid Parental Leave
- Global Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
