Databricks is seeking an SAP Technical Lead to spearhead the technical architecture and delivery of their SAP platform. This role involves defining the technical vision for a clean-core S/4HANA landscape, guiding the engineers who develop on it, and architecting the AI layer that connects SAP with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. The objective is to establish standards, make strategic build-versus-adopt decisions, and ensure all deliverables are secure, performant, and scalable. The SAP platform will underpin core finance processes like Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash, with a focus on leveraging SAP BTP and the Databricks Lakehouse for automated, AI-driven workflows that maintain a clean, upgradable, and fast core.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture for the S/4HANA landscape, adhering to clean-core principles.
- Define and own the extensibility strategy for SAP, utilizing Databricks-native applications and establishing architecture and governance standards.
- Drive integration with Enterprise AI initiatives by applying AI fluency and hands-on experience.
- Architect secure and resilient integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems using SAP Integration Suite, event-driven patterns, APIs, and OData v4.
- Partner on technical patterns for landing SAP data in Databricks, including ingestion, CDC, semantic and master-data modeling, lineage, and governance.
- Establish CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment pipelines for BTP artifacts, and define technical standards and best practices.
- Mentor developers and architects, lead technical steering, and act as a liaison across the SAP ecosystem and surrounding systems.
- Own performance, scalability, security, resilience, and cost across the landscape, and report technical status and risks to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years in SAP technical roles, with 3+ years as a technical lead or architect.
- Proven track record delivering at least one full S/4HANA program and BTP-based extension delivery.
- Deep, hands-on command of clean-core principles, including custom-code assessment, extensibility models, and governance.
- Advanced experience with SAP BTP, ABAP Cloud, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), CDS, CAP, and Fiori/SAPUI5.
- Hands-on experience or strong technical command of agentic automation, LLM orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation.
- Advanced experience with SAP Integration Suite, API management, event-driven architecture, and REST/OData.
- Solid understanding of modern data platforms, SAP data extraction and modeling, pipelines, and semantic layers.
- Working knowledge of SAP authorizations, SoD, SOX, and audit requirements.
- Ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
