About the job
Databricks is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the team building Profile Agents for their CustomerLake platform. This is a critical role in shaping the product, architecture, and engineering foundation of Databricks' new Agentic CDP, which aims to revolutionize customer data management. The product is in its early stages, offering significant opportunities to influence its vision and direction. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality Customer 360 outputs, hiring and growing a senior team, and establishing the quality bar for agent-generated pipelines. This role offers substantial growth potential within a rapidly expanding company.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery of Profile Agents, from identity resolution and agentic pipeline generation to production-quality Customer 360 outputs.
- Hire and grow a small, senior engineering team, and establish the foundation for its future scaling.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering leadership to set technical direction for a new and evolving product.
- Define and build the quality assurance processes for agent-generated pipelines, determining when agents can act autonomously and when human review is needed.
- Engage directly with customers and design partners to translate their Customer 360 challenges into engineering priorities.
- Contribute to the growth of one of the fastest-growing teams in a leading Data + AI company.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams.
- 8+ years of experience building and operating production data or distributed systems.
- Experience building or leading teams that ship data engineering products (e.g., ETL, MDM, data quality tooling).
- Hands-on experience applying agents or LLMs to data engineering problems like matching, entity resolution, or pipeline generation.
- Proven experience taking a product from inception to launch (0 to 1), including defining processes and architecture.
- Understanding of how customer data is used in downstream marketing, sales, and service applications.
- Track record of scaling complex data services to thousands of enterprise customers, ensuring reliability and governance.
- BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience managing multiple teams or other managers is a strong plus.
