Cursor is redefining how developers write code, and as a Software Engineer on the Core Services team, you will own the critical shared services that sit between our product surfaces and the infrastructure layer. This includes auth, webhooks, and the backend systems powering agent workflows. Your work will be foundational, ensuring these systems are reliable, well-abstracted, and scalable for future growth. You will build the systems that every product team depends on, making AI-powered development possible at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own and design scalable authentication architecture.
- Manage the infrastructure behind agent workflows, optimizing for performance and reliability.
- Build a robust webhook server for high-throughput event delivery.
- Develop resilient abstractions over source control providers.
- Partner with client and inference teams to improve end-to-end agent reliability.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating critical backend services (auth systems, API gateways, webhook infrastructure).
- Experience with agentic products or infrastructure, with strong opinions on reliability and performance.
- Proficiency in clean abstractions, well-defined service contracts, and enabling other engineers.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience owning the full lifecycle of production services.
- Experience with authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth, JWTs, RBAC), event-driven architectures, or building developer-facing platform services is a plus.
