As a Forward-Deployed Engineer at Crusoe, you will embed with internal teams such as SRE, Finance, Sales, or People Ops to understand their operations and build software that directly enhances their workflows. Your focus will be on creating applications, automations, or agents that make their work faster, clearer, and more dependable, with success measured by user adoption and the time/effort saved. This is a new function within the company, offering a unique opportunity to help shape its direction and leverage modern capabilities like AI agents and write-back BI tools to deliver impactful solutions rapidly.
Responsibilities
- Embed with stakeholder teams to understand their workflows and identify opportunities for software intervention.
- Build interactive tools that perform actions, such as reading data, applying decisions, and writing results back to systems.
- Automate repetitive workflows using pipelines and agents, involving human judgment only when necessary.
- Take ownership of projects from problem scoping and stakeholder collaboration through to building, deployment, adoption measurement, and iteration.
- Contribute reusable components like skills, integrations, and UI patterns to a shared platform to accelerate future development.
- Ensure the reliability and correctness of tooling by building on trusted data sources and respecting governance and access controls.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and owning production software.
- Staff-level judgment to take ambiguous charters and develop plans and shipped software with minimal direction.
- Full-stack engineering skills, including user-facing interfaces, backend services, APIs, and data layers.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills for navigating data warehouses and validating data.
- Product mindset and ability to collaborate with non-engineers, translating manual processes into effective tools.
- Ability to deliver fast iterations while maintaining a high standard for correctness and hardening features.
- Comfort using LLM agents and automation platforms, understanding the need for guardrails.
- Strong sense of ownership, with success measured by making stakeholder work easier, faster, and more reliable.
