About the job
Crusoe is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and own customer-facing observability products within Crusoe Cloud's Cloud Monitoring Service. This team delivers managed logs and self-service observability capabilities, enabling customers to collect, search, and act on their telemetry efficiently. You will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of product surfaces, including APIs, backend services, and the user onboarding and configuration experience, with a strong emphasis on reliability and ease of use.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate services for the managed logs product, including ingestion endpoints, query APIs, and retention/access controls.
- Develop workflows for customer onboarding and configuration of observability services.
- Transform manual or internally-involved workflows into clean, low-touch product experiences.
- Build APIs, defaults, and guardrails to enable quick and safe customer self-service.
- Design highly scalable, durable, and reliable services, considering multi-tenancy, quotas, cost visibility, and performance under load.
- Collaborate with product, cloud support, and SRE teams to gather customer feedback and drive product improvements.
- Participate in a customer-facing on-call rotation and enhance alerting, runbooks, and automation.
- Implement features to differentiate Crusoe Cloud's observability offering, focusing on low-touch adoption and integration with AI workloads.
Requirements
- Proven ability to design and scale fault-tolerant distributed systems and build managed cloud services.
- Experience with observability data and technologies (log aggregation, time-series databases, distributed tracing).
- Familiarity with tools like Loki, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry is a plus.
- Experience owning a customer-facing service or product end-to-end, including API design and iteration based on feedback.
- A customer-centric mindset, focusing on user experience, defaults, and error messages.
- Strong fundamentals in microservices and infrastructure technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD).
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver customer-first solutions.
- Clear ability to articulate technical ideas and connect design decisions to customer needs.
- Willingness to mentor earlier-career engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
- 5+ years of software development experience, including programming with modern compiled languages (Go, Rust, Java, C++).
