Crusoe is seeking a Senior Director of Analytics & Data Science to lead a newly formed, centralized team of analysts and data scientists. This pivotal role will shape how Crusoe makes decisions across all business units, including cloud, customer experience, construction, power, and manufacturing. The team will be responsible for business logic, certified data models, and reporting, partnering closely with the Data team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, deeply technical leader who can build this function from the ground up, define its operating model, hire and develop talent, and establish consistent metrics across the company. The role will initially focus on foundational data modeling and definitions, evolving to include forecasting, experimentation, and predictive analytics to support leadership in making faster, better-informed decisions.
Responsibilities
- Establish the central analytics team, defining its operating model, staffing, and prioritization processes.
- Recruit, manage, and develop a team of analysts and data scientists with strong technical and business acumen.
- Define and enforce standards for analytical rigor, including experimental design, forecasting, and uncertainty communication.
- Develop the data science capability by identifying and prioritizing high-impact predictive and statistical modeling opportunities.
- Own and maintain certified data marts, metric definitions, and business rule testing for company-wide metric consistency.
- Oversee executive and cross-business reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity for leadership and the board.
- Provide high-stakes decision support by translating complex business questions into actionable analysis and recommendations.
- Facilitate self-service analytics capabilities for the business to answer routine questions independently.
- Maintain close collaboration with business units to ensure analytical efforts align with strategic priorities.
- Partner with the Data team to contribute business context and definitions for data platform development and integration.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in analytics or data science.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams that include data scientists, analysts, and analytics engineers.
- Proven experience hiring for data science and analytics roles and setting technical standards.
- Fluency in SQL and Python.
- Strong data modeling instincts and hands-on experience with dbt or equivalent.
- Direct experience applying forecasting, experimental design, and statistical inference to business problems.
- Experience owning models in production.
- Experience with modern data stack technologies (e.g., BigQuery, dbt, Airflow).
- Experience defining and certifying metrics, testing business rules, and resolving entities across systems.
